His father, John Berry Sr., who had been commissioned as an officer in the Army in 1960 and had been sent to the Vietnam War not long after, established Berry Law in 1965. John Berry Sr. had served as an officer in the Army during the Vietnam War. In that conflict, he was awarded a Bronze Star as well as the First Class Vietnamese Medal of Honor (Gold). Because of his role as principal defense counsel in the “Green Beret Affair,” in which he successfully defended the special forces men who were accused with the death of a double agent, his name would go down in history as one of the most infamous.
