Matthew Leuty, Criminal Defense Attorney

Matthew Leuty is a dedicated Criminal Defense Attorney at Berry Law, inspired by his personal experience in navigating the legal system. Two years after graduating from college, Matthew was involved in a civil lawsuit following a car accident. Even though he was not liable, the experience left a lasting impression. Having a supportive and competent attorney made a world of difference, motivating Matthew to pursue a legal career where he could provide that same peace of mind to his own clients. 

Matthew earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska College of Law in May 2024, graduating with distinction. During his time in law school, he worked as a senior-certified law student in the Debtor’s Defense Clinic, where he helped struggling clients fight unfair debt-collection practices. One of his proudest accomplishments was successfully securing a dismissal for a mother of three who had been harassed by debt collectors after losing her job during the pandemic. Matthew also contributed to drafting a bill that increased the homestead exemption in Nebraska, protecting families from foreclosure over minor debts. 

Matthew’s approach to criminal defense is rooted in empathy, respect, and the belief that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity. He strives to ensure that his clients feel supported and understood throughout every step of the legal process. With a strong focus on professionalism, individualized care, and integrity, Matthew aims to achieve the best outcomes for his clients. 

Outside of his legal work, Matthew is an avid sports enthusiast who enjoys golf, basketball, pickleball, and volleyball. He also practices healthy habits like meal-prepping, meditation, and gratitude. On weekends, Matthew explores local coffee shops, bars, and restaurants, as well as spending time in nature. He has visited 18 different countries across six continents, which has broadened his perspective and deepened his appreciation for diverse cultures.
