Jason Thomas
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Jason Thomas served as a cavalry scout (19D) in the United States Army. Since returning from Iraq 15 years ago, Jason has begun to fight for fellow service members who were denied VA compensation for illnesses related to burn pits, injuries from IEDs, and mental health conditions such as PTSD and depression. The struggle they endured inspired Jason to work in Veteran’s advocacy, helping veterans appeal denied disability claims.
“In an ideal world, this type of work wouldn’t be necessary. I see it as a service to Veterans for what they’ve done and gone through.”
Jason takes Veteran’s advocacy law personally after his own father developed service-related cancer from Agent Orange following military operations in Vietnam. Jason assisted his father in writing the letter that secured his benefits. The Veteran-centered culture at Berry Law was the deciding factor that led him to the firm.
“All of my team members at Berry Law are genuinely interested in and very in tune with Veterans’ issues.”
Jason reached the rank of sergeant in the army. He earned the Army Commendation Medal for his meritorious service in Iraq. During law school, Jason received the CALI Award for Excellence, in the area of Negotiation an honor bestowed on the highest scoring law student in his or her class.
Jason earned his Juris Doctor from Creighton University School of Law, where he was a member of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. Jason strongly believes in civic engagement and nonprofit work and has worked with nonprofit organizations such as Amplify Arts, ætherplough, and the Red Cross.
Work with Jason"Working with attorney Jason Thomas has been a great experience he got my VA disability decision approved around 90 days after I tired unsuccessful for 4 years (unrealistic) I know but it's true. All you veterans out there don't waste time like I did contact this guy if you want fast VA disability benefits it takes a veteran with knowledge and that's him. I'll leave you with this he picked my brain and medical records and discovered more disability issues that I didn't file for years ago. Berry law firm has another good one on the team."
