David Tarrell at the National College of DUI Defense Summer Session
Berry Law Firm’s David Tarrell attended the 2018 Summer Session from the National College of DUI Defense from July 19 through July 21. The three-day seminar, “The DUI Trial from Beginning to Winning”, was held at Harvard Law School’s Austin Hall and designed to help sharpen the skills of trial attorneys.
The Summer Session went back to the traditional roots of DUI defense, by focusing exclusively on trial practices and techniques. United States premier cross examination instructor, Roger Dodd, assisted throughout the seminar.
The program highlighted NCDD’s sole purpose – to educate and train the nation’s finest DUI Defense Attorneys. The summer session at Harvard Law School through NCDD began annually in 1995.
The NCDD is a professional, non-profit corporation dedicated to the improvement of the criminal defense bar, and to the education to the public about DUI Defense Law as a specialty area of law practice.
Founded in 1994 in Chicago by 12 DUI defense attorneys, the college is now based in Montgomery, Alabama, members represent the most experienced DUI defense attorneys in the country, who have demonstrated the skill and experience of the original Founding Members.
Members must be capable, experienced attorneys who dedicate a portion of their practice to the defense of DUI cases throughout the country. Lawyers who meet the criteria established by the board of the NCDD will be recognized, and instituted board certification. Those criteria are:
- Extensive experience trying DUI cases and litigating pre-trial issues, and
- A broad knowledge of the science involved in testing for intoxicants, and a command of the legal process on which DUI cases are framed.
The NCDD is currently the only organization in the United States accredited to certify attorneys as DUI Defense Law specialists.
