Criminal defense attorney Justin Kalemkiarian met up with reporters from KLKN to discuss the recently passed revenge porn law, LB 630.
The article touches on a variety of different topics related to the new revenge porn law, including how this law will be prosecuted. Kalemkiarian notes, “The bill criminalizes disseminating an image that was otherwise legal to possess. In general, what we expect is you can be prosecuted for sharing an image. So, I text it to you, Snapchat it to you, send it to you through Kik.”
Kalemkiarian also discussed how to avoid a possible penalty, by thinking before hitting send. “It’s not just Snapchat, it’s not just Kik, it’s not just a text message – there are lives at stake, including the person who’s sending it.”
Kalemkiarian represents clients in the areas of criminal defense and related civil and licensure defense cases, with an emphasis on drug crimes, Title IX allegations, white collar crimes, DUI/DWI defense, and professional license defense. He has been named a SuperLawyers Rising Star the previous two years and is a recipient of the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 under 40 award. To learn more about Justin Kalemkiarian, click here.
